Barty House Nursing Home is an attractive and comfortable residential nursing home in the pretty Kentish village of Bearsted. Dating back to the Georgian era, Barty House combines listed magnificence with thoroughly modern facilities.

Comfortable rooms

Mayflower has 76 generously sized ensuite bedrooms spread over three floors. Each is equipped with an adjustable automatic bed with a handset control for your comfort, a wardrobe, lockable bedside cabinet, chest of drawers/dressing table, cosy armchair, a nurse-call system, TV and free Wi-Fi. To help you feel at home from day one, we encourage you and your family to personalise your room with photos as well as favourite ornaments and small items of furniture.

All our bright, comfortable rooms have large windows and many have attractive views over our garden.

As well as offering a high standard of accommodation and general nursing care, we provide specialist facilities for people living with the most complex symptoms of dementia and who find day-to-day life particularly challenging. Our staff are highly trained and experienced, and our genuine passion for caring for people is very much appreciated by our residents and their relatives.

We understand the importance of a welcoming environment and the impact it has on our residents’ emotional wellbeing, so in addition to all the advanced facilities you would expect from a modern care facility, we are proud to have created a warm and homely feel that you will experience from the moment you walk through the door.

Care and laundry services

Each floor has its own team of nursing and care staff that are on hand 24/7, while our dedicated teams of housekeepers support them – and you – with a high-quality cleaning and laundry service.

We use a variety of specialist equipment to help us to help you move around safely, including lifting aids, and offer a choice of pressure-relieving mattresses and cushions.

Communal areas

Each floor also has its own spacious dining room that is laid out with a choice of small tables or space for large groups to eat together, and a lounge where you can gather for activities or to socialise. The lounges are comfortably furnished with snug armchairs, a TV and plenty of games and books, and can be arranged for you to sit in a group and chat with friends or to give you quiet space if you prefer. Other seating areas around the building give you the choice to join in the social atmosphere or tuck yourself away and read in peace!

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the home.

Accessible home

Our rooms and corridors are large and airy, allowing plenty of space for wheelchairs. There is also lift access between all floors.

Landscaped garden

The landscaped, wheelchair-accessible garden at Mayflower is fully wheelchair accessible with plenty of seating space for you and your guests to enjoy on warm days, perhaps with a pot of tea and cake. It’s also a favourite place to hold activities and play games in the summer, or simply soak up the sunshine. The gated garden is fully secure with keypad access in and out, providing a reassuring level of safety for everyone.

Pamper time

Our residents like to look their best so ‘The Cut Above’, our popular hair salon, provides on-site hair services to our ladies and gents once a week.

Ample on-site parking is available for visitors.
