Many congratulations to our intrepid team who completed the Walk for a Cure in Kensington Gardens recently, raising an impressive £1,047 for Alzheimer’s Research UK. That, plus an extra £209.25 in Gift Aid, meant that the total amount raised was well over the team’s original £150 goal!
Our home manager Claudia Ramsamy, administrator Alexandra Marinescu and Trevor Francis, our care assistant and quality lead, braved uncertain weather to complete the picturesque 5k walk, along with over 400 other fundraisers. Beginning at the Albert Memorial, the route took walkers around the beautiful Kensington Gardens and past the front of Kensington Palace, the birthplace of Queen Victoria. The team also proudly carried their own branded Mayflower flag.
“I am extremely pleased that our colleagues, residents and relatives, as well as our own families, have been able to support us so strongly in such a noble cause,” says Claudia.
“The event was an incredible but emotional experience. My grandad passed away two years ago with dementia. Being able to make even a small contribution towards researching a cure has given me some hope that maybe, one day, there might be much-needed relief to people living with dementia and their families.”
There’s still time to make a donation to Mayflower’s fundraising page, which you can find here https://walk.alzheimersresearchuk.org/st/67/w.
